Western Australia - Day 2 (Pt 3): Strawberry Picking in Bullsbrook | Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour - Kailis

Strawberry picking was another highly anticipated activity in our itinerary, so on our return leg to Perth, how could we miss a trip to one of the pick-your-own strawberry farms in Bullsbrook (roughly 45 minutes from Perth)?

Our trusty Google map brought us to the address of Ti Strawberry Farm, but we did not find any sign except for a "PICK your OWN STRAWBERRIES HERE".

Look for this signboard!

So we parked our car along the side of the fence, grabbed our hats and headed in to pay our entrance fees.  For our family of four, it was $10 for a tray and one headcount, plus $6 for the other three in the company.

Everything looked so neat and well-maintained.

Little sister picked one with a super long stem.

Fruits of our labour, literally.

We picked the strawberries from different parts of the farm, and called it a day after half an hour or so.  The WA sun should not be slighted at all, for within the short time, we started to get tanned/sunburned.  Although we could have filled up the box, we chose to pick only what we could consume.

Thankfully, there was a portaloo near the gates and we were able to wash up a little just before returning to the car.  Hubby tried the strawberries and gave his thumbs up.

Since there was still time, we decided to head further south to the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour to try out seafood from Kailis, which my friend had strongly recommended.

There was a totally different feel once we drove into Fremantle...

Fremantle

We drove to the Fishing Boat Harbour and being our first time here, we parked at a huge open carpark that was a little distance away from the restaurants.  We paid for parking and walked towards the restaurants.

Little Creatures Brewery

First, we passed by Little Creatures Brewery, which was also on our must-visit list.  The parking lots in front of it were fully occupied!

Kailis

Finally, we reached Kailis seafood restaurant after a 5 minutes walk from the carpark.  The weather was much cooler than the day, and we regretted not having another layer apart from our tees and jackets.

The restaurant was busy as expected, and we had to look around for some time to find a table.  There were plenty of outdoor seats, but it was getting too cold for our comfort.

Salad, Catch-of-the-day fish & chips, seafood chowder

Our bill

The food was delicious, and we actually had a little difficulty finishing it all because we were partially full from the strawberries and also partially too tired to be hungry.  Before we left, we ordered some fresh-shucked oysters for takeaway.  We discovered that it was cheaper to order it as a takeaway than to dine-in!

Kailis, we would be back to try the other stuff on your menu and more of your oysters!
