Having 'Twins'!

There's a baby in the womb, and another in my right thigh! It has become increasingly difficult to walk, and the nature of my job requires me to lug a laptop and go around. :( Why didn't I strike Toto? Or else I could have redeemed myself!

Was worried over the last 2 days because baby has not been very active, and I have been experiencing stomach pains and also a feeling similar to 'that time of the month'. Luckily, he resumed his activeness this afternoon and has been kicking almost non-stop during the prenatal class. It is rather painful when he kicks me at my left side, but I would rather that he kicks hard so that I know he is doing well inside.

Anyway, today was the first prenatal class held at AMK hub, because the hospital is under renovation. The good thing was that AMK is so much nearer to our house and parking at the multi-storey carparks is free. It is convenient to go grocery shopping too. However, we need to sanitize our hands before entering the room, there's no speakers and refreshments aren't as plentiful as before.

We learnt how to handle baby - from coaxing a crying baby, doing first-aid in case baby gets choked, how to bathe baby, wrap a diaper. All along, I had thought that we should test the water temperature for bathing with an elbow, but WRONG - Mrs Wong explained that the elbow is an area that we don't wash often and isn't very sensitive too. The wrist should be the correct part. Hubby seemed to have understood the lesson well - great! I shall rely on you, lao gong!

She also shared some horror stories with how some ignorant maids and confinement ladies handled the baby wrongly. I think I will need to monitor the confinement lady when she's here. If she's not up to the hygiene level, shall have to bid her farewell in advance!

I also got to ask her about drinking coconut juice in the 8th month. She said that some people drink it everyday - any young coconut will do. I think to be on the safe side, I will only drink it occasionally. :)

Oh yes! We have finished washing all the baby laundry! The clothes, diapers, etc, have been folded into the drawers, and I have also started to pack some stuff into the hospital bag. Wonder how soon will we need to activate this bag?

31st Week Scan

We took time-off from work yesterday for the 4D scan. It was rather disappointing because our boy was hiding from us. His face was turned towards my back and although Dr Chang tried hard to shake my tummy just to make him rotate, he seemed very happy with his position and stayed there. I turned onto my right-side, hoping that we could take a glimpse from that angle, but our naughty/shy boy used his hands to cover his face! Dr gave up eventually, saying that the 4D scan was not possible. Although it wasn't possible to do the 4D scan, one good thing was that his position was good for delivery (anterior position).

We had other good news from the scan. His weight was estimated at 1.898kg and every aspect was within the normal range. Circumference of head was slightly above the average, though still within the normal range. I told hubby that our baby takes after him for this. Hehe...

After our attempt at the 4D scan, we waited for a while for Dr Tan. We told her about the frequent abdominal pain and she said it was normal, and I may be getting Braxton Hicks contractions up to 20 times a day. She asked if I could take the actual labour pain, cos if I can't take it now then the actual pain will be worse. Well, it wasn't too bad but I guess I would give it a shot at natural. At least I will try!

This time round, she was pleased with my weight and also our baby's weight. (^_^)V My hard work at controlling my diet has paid off!

We collected the hospital admission letter too. Guess things are really getting closer!

Some weekend shopping

We were at Suntec yesterday to check out the Spring Maternity atrium sale, as well as to grab some groceries. Didn't manage to buy much from the Spring sale, because it is not practical to get more maternity wear at this stage (only 1 mth away from delivery!). Anyway, we grabbed 2 tees at $12 each - 1 for nursing and 1 maternity tee which was longer than what my wardrobe is having, ie. provides more coverage for belly. Price was irresistible!

Also, managed to buy a bottle of No Rinse Shampoo from Mom's Essentials. I have heard of dry shampoo with which you will end up with a headful of white residue and stickiness, but this is the first time I have 'met' a no rinse shampoo which actually lathers. After lathering, you just need to dry your hair with a towel. On the bottle, it says that this is used by NASA too! Amazing.. would try it out during my confinement.

And finally, got a box of chocolates (Nama Choco) from Royce, as my V-day pressie after hints, reminders, and reminders... Had wanted to get this when we were in Sapporo but did not manage to find it, strangely. Yum yum.

Getting ready for our little dear

We were looking for a musical mobile for the playpen, and ended up with this rocker. Bought it some time ago during the Taka cardmembers' sale. It was a good thing that we resisted the temptation to buy it from Robinsons during their cardmembers' sale, cos Taka had a much better deal. Hubby has anxiously fixed up this thing, which is now sitting in our storeroom. Features a battery-operated unit that will auto-rock.

It was lucky to get a bagful of hand-me-down cloth diapers from my brother. Loaded all of it plus the hooded towels into our washer, put on the 90 degrees celsius mode plus 700rpm spin speed. Our house now smells of Kodomo detergent. And now I know why my niece always smelt so wonderful when she is younger!

Our 3rd ROM Anniversary

3 years ago, the date 14 Feb 2005 had marked a turn in our relationship, as we both commited ourselves to each other, legally. It was a short ceremony at Stardus Clubhouse with Mr David Loh as our solemnizer, with a few relatives & close friends to witness the event.

For the 3rd time in a row, on this day we had patronised the Genki Sushi outlet at Novena Sq. It was a simple celebration, but just being together makes everyday a Valentine's.

Oh NO!

Found a few lines on the lower abdominal area this morning. Gosh. Seems like my fears have come true. Are these stretch marks?????

Gong Xi Fa Cai

Here's wishing everyone a happy & prosperous Rat year! And I have already reached the big "3" figure - my 30th week of pregnancy! Another 8 more weeks to go...and we have yet to name our child.

This year is a little different for me because I have to watch my diet! However, I have succumbed more than once to the temptations of the pineapple tarts from Pine Garden, bah kwa, cashew nuts, fish ball crackers, love letters, seaweed peanuts, etc. As of this morning, I have hit the 58kg mark!!! Need to cut down!!!

It is good that we have bought most of the things we need for our new addition to the family, because fatigue is visiting me more and more often. And not to mention the additional weight that I have to carry in front.

Our boy kicks quite hard at times, such that I have to stop what I am doing until the pain subsides. Sometimes, the feeling is as though my organs are going to burst. I have learnt to take small, frequent meals and so far so good - I have not been getting heartburns so often. Besides his little kicks, I can also feel his sommersaults within. There are times when a little bump protrudes from beneath, and we wonder which part of his body that could be. His bums? Hehehe..
