Western Australia - Day 2 (Pt 2): Lancelin

Right after the awesome visit to the limestone formations at the Pinnacles Desert, we drove southwards towards Lancelin for the sand dunes.  We had spotted many white sand dunes along the way, and hence, the kids were filled with anticipation at the prospects of playing on one of these.

Again, we saw the amazing wind farm in the distance before reaching Lancelin.

After about 45 minutes, we had finally arrived at our second destination on the Coral Coast.

Lancelin

There was no clear sign on the roads to the sand dunes, and Google map took us to nowhere, so we travelled back to the little visitor information centre near the entrance to look for this sign.

Found the carpark!

Is this a winter wonderland?

Doing a star jump

Sliding down the soft white sandy slope seemed to be a "must-do" here!

Playing sand with his sandal?

Having a competition here!

Oh dear, when would they get tired of this?

Thankfully, the sky finally cleared up into a deep blue during the time we had spent here, and so I managed to capture a few wonderful shots.  Here's one for your viewing pleasure...

Lancelin Sand Dunes
Just beautiful...

We spent about 1.5 hours at this super fun place, although I had only allocated an hour to be here in my plan.  The children could never get tired of sliding down the slopes again and again.  It looked so fun that even I had a go at it.  While the kids were busy sliding down the slopes, the adults sat back on the sand and enjoyed the cool breeze.

It was pretty windy, and the fine sand ended up everywhere - in our hair, eyes, clothes, shoes, literally everywhere.  I had my shades on all the time to shield my eyes from the glaring white sand and also to ward off most of the sand in the wind.

It was sad to go, but we had to stick to our itinerary as the time was getting late.  We decided to look around the small town for lunch.

As hubby drove around, I whipped out my phone to check for recommended restaurants.  Just as I had found a place with good reviews, hubby magically entered a carpark with many other cars.  It was the same place that I had found from the internet - Endeavour Tavern.

We walked through the restaurant and exited on the other side to find ourselves in a paradise.

This was the first beach that I had seen in WA, and the colour of the ocean was simply enchanting.  However, it was terribly windy and cold so after a few photos, we dashed indoors for shelter.

The staff informed us beforehand that the food would take some time to be prepared, and indeed, we sat for about half an hour before the buzzer sounded.  However, it was absolutely worth the wait.

Our first fish & chips in WA

Yummy!!!

Everything was as good as the internet reviews had raved, and we finished the food quickly.  The children were also anxious to go to the beach.
