Vaccination At 5th Month

What a busy day! We rushed for a health screening this morning, and after that, headed down for lunch, before bringing Ian to see Dr Ong again. These are the last doses of his 5-in-1 and pneumoccocol vaccines. He only cried for a few seconds after the 2 jabs, and we were happy to have such a brave boy!

His latest vital statistics:
  • Height: 67.5cm
  • Weight: 7.78kg
He has only put on 700g since last month, and has not really grown taller. Dr Ong said that he has only 2kg more to gain in the next 7 months, in order to join the leagues of 1 year-old babies. (Most 1 year olds will weigh between 9-12kg.)

Dr Ong noticed that Ian's lower gum is swollen, so he may be teething soon and chewing on things. He also gave us the green light to start him on cereals, since he is starting to show disinterest in milk and trying to mimic us when we are eating. We received a few sample packs of Nestle cereals to let Ian try. It's time to take out the feeding utensils which we have recently bought!

We bought the Frisocream rice cereal and let Ian try a few mouthfuls this evening.

It was quite a mess! Initially, he seemed to enjoy his new food. However, after a few more mouthfuls, he pushed out some of the cereal with his tongue, and used his hand to wipe from his mouth to his face. The cereal landed on his forehead, nose and cheeks. *LOL* Because the Munchkin spoon that I used was quite shallow, the cereal spilled over and landed on his bib as well. Ian got impatient with the slowness soon, and I called it a day.
